ITEC Sports Massage Diploma Course

1 module to include 1 written paper, Practical Exam and Case Studies

This course is for qualified massage therapists who have completed their
diploma in Holistic Massage and Anatomy & Physiology

Course content:
Changes that occur during exercise to the muscular system, origin and action of
muscles, the effects of massage on muscle and other soft tissue
The possible stresses and strains put on the spine and other joints in sporting activities.
The principals of training / explain over training and of force & motion.
Injury prevention & management and the preventative & rehabilitative training to
reinforce massage treatments.
The use of stretching massage movements, the signs & symptoms of inflammation and
scar tissue
The techniques of thermotherapy & cryotherapy (ICER) and the rationale for choice.
The possible damage to the skin as a result of sporting activities on different types of
surfaces, with regard to clothing, shoes, exposure to the sun, wind and other elements.

Tutor: Paul Reddin
In addition to course contents, Paul will arrange for students to attend a real sports
injuries clinic and assist in the application of treatments to genuine fee paying clients,
organise for sports clubs to facilitate students to attend training nights and home
matches so they can practice their newly learned techniques on real players in a
real-life environment, Include relevant first aid training to sports and clinical
environments, Include Taping and Strapping techniques specific to sports injuries
facilitating various workshops.

You will need to provide :-
3 Large baths sheets (black in colour)
Antiseptic Wipes
Antiseptic Hand Gel
A Lever arch folder with dividers is required for student notes and course work.
Please wear comfortable clothing to class i.e. t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms,
runners/comfortable shoes.

Commencement Date: Starts Sunday 3rd Oct 10am -4pm and will continue each
Wednesday evening from 7pm - 10pm until 30th March. Exam Friday 1st April.
Full Days also included: October 17th Sunday 10-4, Jan 15th Saturday 10-4, March 6th
Sun 10-4

€2100 (Includes Exam fees)
